Jennifer Bailey Watters , Ed.D. is an Assistant Professor of Educational Leadership and Curriculum and Instruction in the School of Education at the University of Texas at Tyler. Serving as a teacher, principal, and central office administrator before moving into higher education, Dr. Watters now prepares instructional coaches and school leaders through graduate studies. Passionate about advancing instructional leadership pedagogy and scholarship, she is engaged in research mentorship, serves in leadership roles for several scholarly organizations, and was honored to be named 2023 Researcher of the Year by her colleagues in the College of Psychology and Education at the University of Texas at Tyler. Dr. Watters’ research centers around school leadership learning to improve leadership attrition and advance school improvement outcomes. While this is her first book, Dr. Watters has 15 publications and presents regularly at the state, national, and international levels. Gary Miller is an Associate Professor in the School of Education at the University of Texas at Tyler. Dr. Miller holds an Ed.D. in Educational Administration from the University of North Texas. He is the Master of Education and Principal Preparation Program Coordinator and currently teaches school law, administration of special programs, and the final practicum. He is a member of the University Council for Educational Administration, American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education,Texas Association of School Administrators, Texas Council of Professors of Educational Administration, National Association of Elementary School Principals, and Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association. He is a senior training and technical assistance associate for the Education Development Center in the role of Quality Measures (QM) facilitator providing group facilitation and technical assistance to teams of principal preparation program faculty at Texas and Nebraska universities using Quality Measures tools and protocols to conduct analytic program self-assessments as part of a continuous improvement strategy. In addition, Dr. Miller assists administrators and teachers in rural east Texas schools on teacher retention and school improvement. Before joining the University of Texas at Tyler, Dr. Miller worked in K-12 education for 17 years, as elementary teacher, assistant principal, principal, and instructional technology manager. Ron Rhone , Ph.D., is an assistant professor in the Educational Leadership and Technology Department at Tarleton State University. With a background spanning over 25 years in urban public schools as a math teacher, technology coordinator, assistant principal, and principal, Dr. Rhone brings a wealth of practical experience to his academic role. His research interests include pedagogy for educational leaders and college transition. Dr. Rhone has presented his work at local, state, and national levels and is an active member of TEXAAN, SERA, CPED, and AERA. He holds a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from Texas Christian University and was a Jackson Scholar. Dr. Rhone was honored with the 2024 Outstanding Junior Faculty award by his colleagues at the College of Education at the University of Tarleton. His commitment to engaging, equipping, and empowering future educational leaders is evident in his teaching and research endeavors.
