This story is taken from a chapter in my best-selling autobiography - Change or Die: Abuse to Addiction to Abundance . If you have ever wondered what it would be like for someone in rehab, this book really captures the experience. You will begin to understand how being a resident in a rehab starts to change a person's thinking. The methods described have been used to change thought process for many years. You will be shocked by some of the stories told during our therapeutic group meetings and laugh at some of the antics we get up to. I describe how my emotions, which had been repressed for many years, begin to surface in the safety of the rehab. I also begin to deal with difficult situations more appropriately and introduce coping skills into my life, instead of catapulting from one lot of chaos to the next. It was my time in the rehab which helped me to completely turn my life around and feel safe for the first time in 34 years. After coming around from a three-day coma in a psychiatric hospital I was interned with alcoholics, murderers, drug addicts and criminals - all of whom contributed to the enormous amount of support and encouragement I received to begin to build the rest of my life.
