His main research areas are the growth of public welfare in heterogeneous markets; consumer behavior and demand in knowledge-based economies, including problems of information asymmetry; entrepreneurship; and competitiveness, competitive advantages and quality in labor and product markets. Safiullin has published over 100 scientific papers, including 60 papers in international journals included in the Scopus database. Niyaz Gabdrakhmanov is currently a Research Fellow at the Institute of Education, Higher School of Economics, Russia, and was previously an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Management, Economics and Finance, Kazan Federal University, Russia. His main areas of scientific interest are spatial analysis, geodemography, regional higher education systems, economic and social geography, spatial modeling, geographic information systems, and cartography.
