OverviewRegalbop is anything but ordinary. With avocado-green skin, a hairless body, and oversized ears, nose, and feet, he stands out in ways he never wanted. When he discovers a mysterious nose in a puddle, he's unsure if it belongs to him-after all, he's never seen his reflection. His father hid the only mirror in their home in the attic, warning him never to look into it unless he was in danger. Enter Pollybip, a young magician-in-training with a knack for trouble. When she witnesses Regalbop losing his extremities, she mistakes it for a magic trick and steals his fallen ears to uncover his secret. But Regalbop's attempt to retrieve them lands him in jail, accused of being the neighborhood burglar. With the police on his trail, a daring escape, and a race against time, Regalbop and Pollybip must confront the mystery of the forbidden mirror. Their only way out? He taught industrial arts in New England before accepting a teaching position in Barrow, Alaska, 500 miles from the North Pole, despite winters of 100 degrees below zero and total darkness! He also taught in Galena Alaska, a village on the Yukon River and Unalaska in the Aleutian Islands. His days were filled with adventures: the dazzling Northern Lights, polar bears, Inuit whale hunting. He also traversed the frozen waters of the Arctic ocean on ski-doo. Encouraged by friends to write about his experiences, he transformed his fantastical experience of living in Alaska into the story of Regalbop. Leonard retired from teaching and returned to Massachusetts, where he met his wife, Andrea. Together they adopted four wonderful greyhounds.
