Overview

After the Enlightenment, German theologians, in an attempt to apply science to the study of the Bible, threw the Bible Baby out with the dirty bathwater. Science and evolution were the Zeitgeist, and theologians around the world overly bought into the dominant naturalistic thinking of the time. Looking back we now can see that almost all the science of the 18th and 19th centuries was either wrong, very incomplete, or very elementary compared to what we know today. While science corrects itself with time, German theology has a unique and very unscientific way of progressing by building upon previously accepted ideas even if those previous ideas were wrong. Thus the unintended consequence of Biblical criticism over the past 200 years has been the trashing of the Bible as the Word of God. Furthermore this deconstruction of the Bible was largely based upon science and science methodology that we now know was wrong. This has resulted in a Christian church today that is foundationless, weak, powerless, faithless, and a mere shadow of what it once was and what God intended it to be. This book traces the history of the problem, and proposes a Reformation of the way we view the Bible through Science and History thereby Resurrecting the Bible once again to its proper position as the Word of God. When properly examined by the scientific method and when examined relative to what we now know in science and history, the Bible stands alone as the only authoritative holy book of any major religion that is compatible with modern science and history. The reason it alone is compatible with truth is because it contains the revealed Truth of God. It is the Word of God. Once we again recognize this fundamental principle about the Bible and we begin to interpret reality through the presupposition of the Bible as God's Word, we will be back on the road toward finding Truth- and the Truth will set us free.

Author Information

Dr. Terry L. Weaver received M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Microbiology from the Ohio State University. During his academic career he has held faculty positions at Cornell University, the State University of New York at Alfred, the State University of New York at Fredonia, and Liberty University. Courses taught include Microbial Genetics, Microbial Physiology, Microbial Ecology, Recombinant Gene Technology, Genetics, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, General Biology, Aquatic Biology, and Earth Science. Dr. Weaver chaired the Biology Departments at Liberty and SUNY Fredonia. At SUNY Alfred he was the Academic Dean of Agriculture and Allied Health Sciences. Dr. Weaver has written numerous scientific articles, has authored two biology books, and holds a patent on a DNA based detection method for the Lyme disease bacterium. Presently Dr. Weaver is Professor Emeritus with the State University of New York and is an Adjunct Professor at Regent University. Since his early retirement in 1996, Dr. Weaver and his wife Marilyn have served as Missionaries with Elim Fellowship. They lived and worked for 15 years in Tanzania and Kenya training pastors, helping plant churches, and doing evangelistic work among unreached tribes. In 2015, Weavers moved to Frankfurt, Germany where they continue to reach, teach, preach, and make disciples.
