OverviewHandmaid to Madonna: a journey fraught with agony My father asked me to keep the strangest parts of this story to myself, but I've always worked my thoughts out better when I put them on parchment. So, this journey begins the day an angel informed me I would have a baby--before I was even married. From making goat cheese to disappearing for three months, I traveled further in the next few years than I had in the fourteen years before them. But my spiritual pilgrimage was only beginning. You'll call him Jesus, Yahweh's messenger told me. And the old man in the temple let me know a sword would pierce me with many sorrows. Jesus was only the first of four sons I would mother, but his life changed us all. For the better? But not without conflict. Reviews of Current Edition I loved the story! It is very powerful to think about how Mary would have really felt. It really made me stop and meditate on that for a while. - Kelli Simonds, author Seven Attitude Changing Postures of a Christian This is an excellent fictional account of what it might have been like to walk in Mary's shoes. The author did not take any verses out of context, but simply allowed the reader to see the human side of Mary. Reflections is well written and follows the Biblical timeline during the first century, well. I sincerely enjoyed this book and look forward to more in the series. I recommend this book to both women and men. Adrian Bernal, D. Div Sharon Hughson took the little bit of information contained in the Bible, with (probably) a great deal of research, and a bit of literary license - managed to write a very realistic rendition of what Mary's story quite possibly looked like. I was utterly impressed with what I read. I am without a doubt looking forward to reading the rest of the series! - E. Eblin Author InformationNurtured through a troubled teen-hood by Aslan in Narnia, Sharon Hughson has long appreciated the power of the written word. For years, her heart was touched by Christian authors such as Dee Henderson, Lori Wick and Karen Kingsbury. But still the words called to her. In answer, she finished her English literature degree and started writing stories. For many years, she has written Bible lessons for youth group, teenagers and women. Bible characters fascinate her and offer encouragement and insight for real living. Can these truths be presented in a more accessible format? Something any person can relate to? Those questions led to the creation of Reflections from a Pondering Heart. Sharon fuels her imagination with recollections from years of motherhood and a lifetime of experience working with young people in both church and public school. She writes full-time from her home in Oregon, where she resides with her husband and three cats. The Hughsons are active in the ministries of their local church. This novella is the first in her series of Biblical retellings called REFLECTIONS. She has published eight sweet and Christian romances. Tab Content 6Author Website:Countries AvailableAll regions |
