Table of ContentsReviewsAuthor InformationDavid Mulcahy is a speaker, a consultant, a magazine contributing author and the author of multiple essential reference books on warehouse management including: * 'Warehouse Distribution & Operations Handbook' * 'Materials Handling Management' * 'Order Fulfillment And Across The Dock Operations Concepts, Designs And Operations Handbook, ' * 'Eaches And Pieces Order Fulfillment Design And Operations Handbook' * 'A Supply Chain Logistics Program For Warehouse Management' While working with the AMWAY Corporation, Mr. Mulcahy participated as a project manager for the design, build, install and start-up for order fulfillment operations in Japan, Korea, Taiwan, New Zealand, Australia, China, UK, Italy and Germany. These include 'pick to light' concepts as well as wire guided VNA storage vehicles with tall racks. He was also involved with the re-model for operations in Spain, Netherlands, Mexico, Canada and European Central Warehouses. As a QVC project manager Mr. Mulcahy was involved with the remodel for the QVC Germany operation to increase storage capacity, improve picker, sort and packer productivity (UPH) and lower operational expenses (CPU) and in the Japan operation to optimize off-site storage activity, improve space utilization, lower CPU and improve picker, sort and packer productivity (UPH). In the QVC Japan operation, the lower CPU and higher UPH results helped QVC Japan to achieve a positive cash flow within 3 years. For both QVC Germany and Japan operations, Mr. Mulcahy was a key associate in completing a site selection, warehouse operation design and the WMS program written functional specifications. For Peter J Schmitt, Buffalo, NY, Mr. Mulcahy consolidated two warehouse operations into one facility, improved the facility maintenance and sanitation rating to the top in the region and improved space utilization. For A & P Tea Co., Dallas, TX consolidated small item warehouse into the main warehouse, improved picker productivity and delivery truck utilization that improved the division's operational ranking from number 26th to 6th. Most recently Mr. Mulcahy has also provided his services for the non-profit community. Mr. Mulcahy received his MBA from the University Of Dallas, Texas. In 1981 Mr. Mulcahy designed a multi-layer case selection concept that won a 1981 Materials Handling Institute award at that year's Material Handling Show.
