Martha J. Cutter is a professor of English and Africana studies at the University of Connecticut. Her most recent book is The Illustrated Slave: Empathy, Graphic Narrative, and the Visual Culture of the Transatlantic Abolition Movement, 1800–1852 (Georgia). Cathy J. Schlund-Vials is a professor of English and Asian American studies at the University of Connecticut. She is the author of Modeling Citizenship: Jewish and Asian American Writing and War, Genocide, and Justice: Cambodian American Memory Work.
