Table of ContentsReviewsRichard Roberts has written a great book on prophecy, Redeeming Prophecy: A Practical Guide to Authentic Prophetic Ministry. I found it helpful, practical, and an easy quick read. He deals with the 'hot topics' related to prophecy today, such as; the idea that prophets are strategists and after the biblical and historical tests finds this belief having little support. The second 'hot topic' is the relationship between prophecy and politics. This section is of great interest and I think has important insights pointing out mistakes of the recent past. I recommend Redeeming Prophecy for anyone wanting to learn more about prophecy and who desires to prophesy. - Dr Randy Clark, Overseer of the apostolic network of Global Awakening I believe Richard Roberts's book, Redeeming Prophecy, is an extremely important contribution to the role which prophets and prophecy play, placing this subject as core in the development of our personal lives and the life of our churches today. It comes at a time when many Charismatic, and possibly some Pentecostal Churches, have allowed the gift to slip out of use while, on the other hand, in these worrying times, many saints are hanging on every word which emerges from the numerous 'celebrity prophets' who have appeared on the Internet over recent years. Richard does not offer his work as having all the answers but as a refreshingly helpful and biblical resource to all who would seek the Holy Spirit for more of his power in their lives and churches. - John Noble, Chair of the UK Charismatic Leaders Conference (1984-2006) Richard's book offers helpful insights addressing some of the very issues and concerns we have seen arise in the Church these last several years. If you want to explore the gift of prophecy, then I recommend Richard's book as one of the guides on your journey towards deeper understanding, and towards appreciating the various layers of prophetic ministry. - Christy Wimber, Author, Director of Global Church Planting, Friends Churches I like Richard Roberts's approach of bringing the ministry of prophecy back into balance among Christians. Catholic and Orthodox readers will find very interesting parallels between weighing prophecy and the discernment process used by the Vatican and other hierarchical bodies to authenticate visions and mystical experiences. - Deacon Darrell Wentworth, Executive Producer CMAX TV Richard's book is an insightful and timely thought-provoker for anyone who appreciates the benefits of prophetic ministry. He draws on personal and professional experience to bring a rich breadth of insights that I am sure will benefit individuals and congregations. - Clive Orchard, Warden, Ffald y Brenin Retreat Centre, Wales Richard's new book, Redeeming Prophecy: A Practical Guide to Authentic Prophetic Ministry, is a welcome addition to a current issue which needs some timely wisdom in prophetic protocol. Richard's book is not as much a 'how to' manual, but rather, a deep dive into the nature and function of the prophetic. After reading the book, you will have a greater appreciation not only for the gift of prophecy but for the entire Christian faith; and I believe will want to pursue the prophetic with renewed zeal. Great job, Richard! - Dr Scott T. Kelso, Chairman, Charismatic Leaders Fellowship Author InformationDr RICHARD J ROBERTS holds qualifications in medicine, theology, and counselling.
