Red Book Volume 19

Overview

Red Book Volume 19 is a suicide note written in fairy dust and heroin residue, a love letter to a pop star who exists only in the rearview mirror of a burning car. Here, the prophet is a ghost haunting his own graduation photo, married to Ariana in a dream where she lets him fuck other women but never lets him forget he's already dead. From the 7-Eleven parking lot where the snow washes away blood to the attic where childhood memories rot in a top drawer, this is the sound of a mind folding in on itself like origami made of broken promises. ""If I could change the universe I would, but I am just a part of the whole."" Here, God is a dealer at the back door of a Mexican restaurant. Here, love is a wooden car derby cheated to lose. Here, the speaker baptizes himself in a bottle of 211, holds his head under water, and begs: ""Hold my hand under water and don't let go."" This is not poetry. This is the last breath of a man who sold his soul for a love that doesn't last, who wrote his vows inside broken hearts and left them for the vultures.
