Overview

The Vietnam War, also known as the Second Indochina War, was a conflict in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia from 1 November 1955 to the fall of Saigon on 30 April 1975. It was the second of the Indochina Wars and was officially fought between North Vietnam and South Vietnam. The author tells the story of his often comedic time spent as a Special Forces soldier in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. His vivid recollection of the conflict is largely thanks to the numerous letters he wrote to his wife, Cookie, who saved every letter she ever received from her husband while he was deployed.
