His main research interest is variability in vowel reduction by Brazilian speakers of English, but he also has a strong interest in second language assessment.Andreia S. Rauber is Research Assistant Professor in the Center for Studies in the Humanities of the University of Minho, Braga, Portugal. Her research interests are on speech perception and speech production, computer-assisted perceptual training, foreign language teaching and learning, and cross-dialect acoustic descriptions of sounds.Barbara O. Baptista holds a PhD in Applied Linguistics from the University of California at Los Angeles and is Professor of English and Applied Linguistics at the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina. Her area of interest is the learning, teaching, perception and production of English phonetics and phonology by nonnatives.
