Overview

This book is a non-fiction book about the dangers of marathon obsession. The book is partially a memoir; the author uses his personal experiences running marathons, including the New York City Marathon, to relay his message. However, the book also takes a close look at how exercise impacts different people. The brand has categorized humans in three ways: The human ant, a person stuck in the world of long-distance running; the human-chimpanzee, a person who doesn't regularly exercise; and the human dolphin, a person who is active in many different sports but also has a balanced social life. It is a book that leads to towards a new direction enabling one to escape from the world of long marathons and move on to positive sporting life. It a philosophy behind sports and happiness showing the reader the way to reinvent him or herself to become new. The author does this by taking us through the 26.2 miles that will change the reader's thoughts about the running world as each mile takes us through the steps of Brand's journey of transformation.
