Born in Melbourne, Australia, Carmela graduated from Melbourne University with a degree in Social Sciences. She is a wife and mother of one. She has worked in information technology for over twenty years as a consultant specializing in project and change management. A voracious reader, author, and mental health advocate, Carmela actively supports a number of organizations and institutions and provides support to mental health caregivers through her voluntary work with BeyondBlue (www.beyondblue.com.au) and Deakin University, as an expert panel member to establish guidelines for carers.
