I'm Kandace Chimbiri, speaker and author of Black History books for children and young readers. I've also written for film, published articles and contributed to a Black British history anthology. I work with museums on children's trails, workshops for children and adults as well as exhibitions about Black history. Thirdly, I speak to businesses and corporate Diversity, Equality and Inclusion (DEI) networks who want to better understand Black history. I'm motivated by a desire to help improve both children's literacy as well as their knowledge of history. As well as writing non-fiction inspired by true life stories and events that really happened, I enjoy retelling myths and legends for younger readers. My most recent non-fiction books and current talks cover the global history of Afro hair, Black British history, and the Windrush generation.
