Bree James is an up-and-comer in the book world. She doesn't care about writing anything serious. She just wants to have fun. Her books are full of spicy vampires and witches, and she's just excited to be invited to the literary party. Brody Bates has only ever wanted one thing, to stand on his own two feet. His father wanted him to follow in his footsteps, but Brody was determined to do his own thing. Now he's one of the top high-fantasy authors in the game, and he takes himself very, very seriously. An unfortunate run-in-literally-at an author conference makes them enemies. Two years later, they find they're both living in the same community in Savannah, Georgia, and the love still isn't flowing between them. Everything Bree and Brody do is a competition. They don't want to play nice. When their publishers sign them up for a special book promotion event-one that lasts the entire summer-they're forced to play nice with one another. That means months of pretending it's not hate fueling them. There's just one thing, the more time they spend together, the more they realize they have in common.
