Overview

Read was the first word of the Quran revealed to Muhammad the Prophet and this is an interpretation of that revealed Scripture. This is an interpretation of the Quran, and the Quran is guidance from God, for those who realize what it is (2:2). And the Quran is guidance for those who believe in the unknown, establish prayer, who give from what God has given them (2:3), who believe that it was revealed to Muhammad the Prophet, who believe that scripture was also revealed before Muhammad, and who believe in the hereafter. When believers read the Quran they learn wisdom (12:2) and truth from God (13:1). It leads them out of darkness into the light (14:1), it helps them to see things clearly (15:1), and it offers them advice from God (17:41). There is no better time for believers to read the Quran than at night (73:6), and there is no better way for them to read than in a slow, measured, melodious voice (Sura 73:4). Reading it is worship for believers (21:106). It also teaches them to think, it gives them understanding, and it shows them God's miracles (38:29). It is confirmation (5:48) and further explanation (10:37) of previous scripture. And believers are continuously discovering additional benefits of reading the Quran (18:54).
