Reach Beyond Your Comfort Zone: Do Your Best

Overview

This book is a unique look at almost a half century of Scouting. Formerly called Boy Scouts of America, the new name is all inclusive Scouts of America. I started this Troop in 1977 and continue to serve as the Scouting Coordinator for our Church. A lot of changes occurred since 1977, we now have 105 Eagle Scouts, and are currently very active in the community. The book is dedicated to Ralph Anderson one of my favorite Eagle Scouts who passed away several years ago. Ken was born in 1948 in Newport News Virginia and was raised in Nitro West Virginia. After graduation and one year of college, he joined the US Army. He was allowed to choose a career field, he chose Combat Order of Battle Analyst, 96B20 MOS. He attended the US Army Intelligence School at Fort Holabird, Baltimore Maryland. Immediately after graduation he was given orders for Vietnam and arrived in country August 17, 1968. After his second tour he returned home and served as an instructor for the USAINTS Order of Battle School at Fort Holabird, Maryland. He married in 1971 to Sandra Bardell and attended Lake City Forest Ranger School in Lake City Florida. He became a Forest Research Technician with Union Camp from 1973 to 1987. In 1975 he joined the Air National Guard and was awarded a Direct Commission in 1979 as an Air Intelligence Officer. Later he has served as vice Commander to the Support Group. In 1977 he helped organize and establish Boy Scout Troop 665 in Rincon, Georgia. He was the Troop's Scoutmaster from 1977 to 2014, and still works with the troop. He has 48 years experience with the Boy Scouts of America.
