OverviewGlobalization in Africa is an uneven process, integrating or re-integrating some localities and communities in the global flows of goods, finance and information, while marginalizing or excluding others. The contributors to this collection apply a common analytical framework that focuses on actors, institutions and processes linked to selected material flows. They provide a detailed examination of globalization dynamics within specific global commodity chains, and at the same time offer a general and broader picture of the directions towards which the continent will be moving. This book is unique, because no previous effort has been made to grasp Africa's diversity of relations to the globalization processes in such a systematic manner. Its contributions combine, to an unusual degree, analytical clarity and depth, thorough empirical research, and practical relevance.... should stimulate new thinking in topical debates about commodity trade and development.' - Henry Bernstein, SOAS Author InformationNiels Fold is a Lecturer at the Institute of Geography, University of Copenhagen Tab Content 6Author Website:Countries AvailableAll regions |
