Ray Lewis

Overview

Growing up in a single parent home, Ray Lewis did not have an easy childhood. While his mother worked multiple jobs in order to pay the bills, Ray had to become a caretaker for his four younger siblings. As he entered high school, Ray was in the shadows of his estranged father, who had been a star athlete in high school. However, Ray broke all of his father's wrestling records and emerged as a star football player. He earned a scholarship to play football for the University of Miami. Ray became one of the top linebackers in the NCAA. After his junior season, he opted to enter the NFL draft. The Baltimore Ravens selected Ray in the first round. He overcame controversy and led the Ravens to a Super Bowl victory over the New York Giants in 2001. Throughout his career, he has been one of the most dominating defensive players in the NFL. In 2007, he received his ninth invitation to the Pro Bowl.
