OverviewThis new book brings together the results of the important new studies and consequent conservation activity carried out on works by Raphael that were created between 1508 and 1520. The documentation gathered herein and discussed during two study days that were specifically organised in 2014, recounts the artistic journey of the master of Urbino during the last decade of his life, and underlines various fundamental aspects, such as technical choices and experiments, stylistic consistency and expressive innovation. The themes considered include the management and activity of the workshop, the evolution of the Raphaelesque technique in the Vatican Rooms, the restorations and paintings in Capodimonte and the Prado, and the study of his production technique. The comprehensive colour photographs that accompany the text, are gathered in a substantial atlas , and offer splendid reproductions of Raphael's works, with previously unpublished full-page details and comparative images, as well as x-rays and reflectographic images, preparatory drawings and cartoons. The volume ends with a detailed specific reference biography for students and scholars Full Product DetailsAuthor: Antonio Paolucci , Barbara Agosti , Silvia GinzburgPublisher: Edizioni Musei Vaticani Imprint: Edizioni Musei Vaticani ISBN: 9788882713959ISBN 10: 8882713954 Pages: 432 Publication Date: 01 November 2018 Audience: College/higher education , Postgraduate, Research & Scholarly , Undergraduate Format: Hardback Publisher's Status: Active Availability: In Print ![]() This item will be ordered in for you from one of our suppliers.
