Reviews

This discography could help librarians build a core collection of rap recordings as well as to help listeners find recordings with which to explore the genre...will be useful to scholars... Rq McCoy has annotated 1,070 articles from such magazines as Billboard, Melody Maker, Variety, People Weekly, Rolling Stone, Newsweek, Village Voice, and Spin...easy to use and pulls together a number of different sources. It will be useful in libraries that subscribe to many of the periodicals indexed. Booklist ...most worthy of consideration for collections of popular culture and Black studies. American Reference Books Annual ...unquestionably an excellent source for anyone seeking information on rap music as a viable music genre. I highly recommend it, both for librarians and patrons who are interested in reading synopses of the literature. VOYA ...an indispensable resource. The Source
