Table of ContentsReviewsAuthor InformationChuck Dean served in the U.S. Army for six years as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division and the 173d Airborne Brigade both in Okinawa and South Vietnam. Upon his return from the war zone in 1966 he spent two years as a Drill Instructor at Ft. Ord, California. In early 1987 he became the Executive Director of Point Man International, a veterans-for-veterans support organization. As a writer and counselor he has since worked with thousands of soldiers and veterans not only in the United States, but several foreign countries-including Russia, Italy, and France. His mission has been to see other veterans find positive solutions to the many issues facing them upon returning home. In the spring of 2004, Chuck was invited by the U.S. Army to assist the soldiers of the 173d Airborne Brigade in their return from the combat zone in Iraq. His focus while at their re-deployment base camp in Vicenza, Italy was to help them reintegrate with their loved ones and readjust to peacetime conditions after prolonged combat exposure in Northern Iraq. Chuck continues to write, and is the author of several *books on recovery issues including Nam Vet: Making Peace with Your Past , Some Came Home , Inside Shadows , A Warrior to Warrior Weekend: Together Again . ( Down Range: To Iraq and Back , and Once a Warrior: Wired for Life are recent works written and designed with critical information for the current military.) In 2008 Chuck was awarded the prestigious Hirsch Foundation Leadership Award for his writing and work with veterans and their families. Presently he writes a regular column entitled Vet 2 Vet for The Vegas Voice newspaper. He and his wife, Renee, live both in Nevada, and Nanning, Guangxi, China.
