Overview

Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa was one of the great sages who lived about hundred years ago. He hailed from a small village in Bengal. Even in his early years, his identity as a blessed soul was revealed. He performed priestly duties with great devotion in Kali temple, Kolkata and had burning desire to have darshan of goddess and when he failed to see Kali, he was about to offer his head at her holy feet with sword. Immediately, the goddess appeared in form before his eyes and blessed. He played with Kali, fed her and spoke. She commanded him to practice and prove various schools of Hindu dharma of attaining God. Hence, he practiced Sakya Bhava, Dasya Bhava, Nayaka-Nayaki Bhava and Vatsalya Bhava and the tantra sadhana and found them to be true ways of realisation of God under the guidance of Bhairavi Brahmani, Avadhuta Totapuri and Jatadhari. He practiced Islam, Christianity, Jainism, Buddhism, and Sikhism and found that they also lead to God realisation. One has to take many births to follow to master even one of the above-mentioned methods to realise God. His lived with his wife Sarada as guru-sishya. He trained many in sanyasa ashrama. Serve the poor and serve the God were his teaching. Attracted by false propaganda such as superstition, practice of sati, caste-bias, idolatory and child marriage of Hindu religion, there was exodus of people to other religions during his time and this was halted. People are still clinging to Hindu religion, because of the great saints like him. Let us bow at his feet and enjoy peace.
