The tips, techniques and suggestions on planting are useful. This is a good reference book and the pictures were very helpful. I received an arc of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. I am a beginner gardener. As such I am looking for ways to start gardening in a way to provide high yield in limited space. The joke in my house growing up as the daughter of a successful farmer ( my Jamaican born father grew crops in a 10' by 12' garden in Brooklyn NY, yearly) was that I could kill a house plant in a week. Suffice it to say that while I love growing things my success has been limited. Raised bed gardening was intriguing to me because it seemed to be like container gardening. It is in a way, but from the reading of this book, seems to be primarily for outside and more involved. This book breaks down pretty much everything about raised bed gardening. I liked the examples given. While some of the language was a little on the science side, the majority of the language is in layman's terms. I definitely appreciated the section on companion plants, as well as crop rotation. The explanations given were clear and easy to understand. The table of contents gets you right to what you need to know. Each section was an easy read, taking you through planning, creating, growing, and maintaining your raised garden beds. This book is very informative and useful for new gardners and those that would like to try something new. It talks about good and bad. It also explains things in easy to understand language. I found it helpful though i have been planting gardens for a while. I have tried tires and now know why they were not successful. A very good book.
