OverviewBoth quantitative and qualitative problems in drinking water supply occur due to higher water demand, water pollution and emerging pollutants in developing countries as well as in developed countries. Rainwater has seldom been considered as a drinking water source, although it has been practiced since the beginning of human history. There are scientific, economic and social barriers to promoting rainwater harvesting for drinking. Such barriers can, however, be overcome by science and technology supported by case studies. This book will show how drinking water problems can be readily solved by rainwater as a decentralized water supply system in combination with a centralized system.
