Back in 1992 Silver Link published the first Rail Trails South West volume in hardback. Subsequently reprinted in softcover in 1996 the back cover copy for which read as follows:'Many years ago I reccall my father telling me about his younger days, when he started work for the GWR at Paddington. The railways were then at the height of their splendour, and I envied him the sights he could describe, and wished, at the time, that I could have been born 30 years earlier.' 'With the passing of the years I now realise that I too was privileged to have been around and actively recording railway events in the South West during the ppost-war years - a period now recalled with affection by many of those who were either not so fortunately placed, or were too young to appreciate it.' This unique selection of 'essays in steam', featuring more than 90 magnificent full-page photographs and supporting text, allows us to share those magical last decades of steam in the West Country. First published in hardback in 1992, it is now available for the first time in paperback. A further selection is planned.Well it has only taken 20 years but here it is!The original Rail Trails sold out and is long out of print.
