Overview

Raiders is a sports fiction novel about a NHL franchise awarded to a Southern city that takes the league into the most controversial and cataclysmic season in its history. Millionaire Jim Stafford is faced with the prospect of his team making the playoffs in its first season or losing a billion-dollar competition against his brother. He hires legendary hacker Isidro Gamez to come up with a foolproof plan for success, and the new General Manager enlists minor league scout Nick Preston as the coach for his 'nightmare team'. Gamez believes that anarchy and chaos will be the only means to victory in an impossible situation, and directs Preston in building a paradigm that can succeed. The resulting operation becomes a rebuke and a disgrace that leaves the characters and readers alike wondering what makes the NHL tick in this incisive satire.
