She studied physics and astrophysics in Paris (Université de Paris, École Normale Supérieure de Sèvres, Institut d'Astrophysique de Paris) and became a research scientist at Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique in 1963. She held positions with Observatoire de Paris (Meudon) and is since 1971 with Observatoire de la Côte d'Azur in Nice.
