OverviewBrazil is still a country of great social inequality, one of the fundamental elements of which lies in access to education. However, those with better financial conditions have huge advantages in terms of taking advantage of opportunities in the labour market, which ends up perpetuating social inequality. With this in mind, the federal government created the quota policy. Law No. 12.711/2012 was signed by President Dilma Rousseff with the aim of developing social equality and putting people from the periphery, black people and children of the working class who didn't even have the opportunity to enter higher education into universities, institutes and federal centres.
