Author Information

Kathryn B. Walker was born January 18, 1921, in Checota, Oklahoma. She graduated from high school in Alpine, Texas, and married her high school sweetheart, J. C. Walker, in 1941. She opened a beauty salon in her home while raising three young daughters.In 1957, she obtained her teaching degree from Sul Ross State College. She was teaching school and working toward her master's degree when her fourth daughter was born. A fifth daughter followed in 1963.Kathryn taught twenty-one years before being diagnosed with cancer, finally succumbing to the disease in 1980 at the age of fifty-eight.
