OverviewQueertopia is a collection of work by artists Briden Schueren and Paul Richmond, who spent one week collaborating on a series of 42 paintings celebrating queer joy. The result is their reimagining of the Garden of Eden, in which there is space for everyone. There is no apple of shame. Art and activism for the LGBTQ+ community brought them together over ten years ago. They've always wanted to do a collaborative piece, to have an opportunity to unite their different styles. They noticed that representation of queer joy is lacking and wanted to change the narrative. They worked simultaneously, taking turns painting on the same canvases until the result was not Briden's style or Paul's style but something new. This book contains all of the work they created together as well as behind-the-scenes photos showing the collaborative process and pop-up event benefitting Trans Lifeline.
