Overview"The edited volume ""Queer Voices from the Periphery: A Collection of Perspectives from Northeast India"" is a humble attempt to bring the voices from academia and members of the queer community from the northeast region to focus on the challenges and struggles faced by the members of the community. There are few organizations, collectives and groups working with the queer community in Assam trying to build a network through which charity activities, discussions, counselling are provided. There are a number of queer collectives in Assam which are promoting and advocating extensively queer rights and working extensively to create a space to boost their rights. However, there is a long way to move forward in terms of having a better space and upholding the rights of this community. This edited volume aims to trace the journey of the queer community from Northeast India in their various walks of life focusing articles from Assam and Meghalaya."
