Overview

Queen Elizabeth II was the longest-reigning monarch of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth. Her reign began in1952 and ended with her death in September 2022, at the age of 96. During her reign, Queen Elizabeth brought dignity, intelligence and courage to her role as Queen. Learn about her life as a monarch, but also as a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and lover of horses and corgis. Level 2 readers are aimed at children who are becoming more confident at reading on their own. Author Information

Leslie spent twenty-five years teaching Canadian and British history with the BC Open University. When she retired from teaching, she became a bookseller in Victoria and then in Vancouver with Vancouver Kidsbooks, where she still works. In addition, she has co-written two children's picture books about Canadian history with Sarah Harvey. Any spare time is spent knitting, reading and visiting with her two grandsons. Alexis Roumanis graduated from Simon Fraser University's Master of Publishing program in 2009. Since then, he has edited hundreds of children's books, and written more than 100 educational books. His audience includes children in grades K-12 as well as university students. Alexis lives with his three young boys in British Columbia, Canada. He enjoys the outdoors, reading a good book, and has a passion for learning new things. Ashley Lee began her publishing career at Simon Fraser University's Master of Publishing program. She has an Animal Care Aide certificate from Vancouver Island University, which allowed her to combine her love for animals and writing when she worked for Modern Dog and Modern Cat magazines. Ashley lives in British Columbia, Canada, where she enjoys exploring the outdoors, volunteering with children's programs, and doing arts and crafts.
