Overview

A thousand years in the future, the peace-loving space city known as Novo Paolo (or, Bubbleopolis) is invaded by an army of self-proclaimed ""Libérateurs"" seeking to steal the city's vast wealth and enslave its inhabitants. A representative of the Intergalactic Council denies involvement but it's pretty clear who's responsible. The city lacks a formal government but does not lack resources nor determination to resist tyranny. The Paoloans quickly organize militias and guerrilla teams to fight the invaders as best they can. But the Libérateurs have devised a secret, 8-dimensional ""Rainbow Bridge"" to form a path around the city's usual defenses. Meanwhile, galaxies away, the son of murdered ambassador Albert Montoya, aided by the infamous space-pirate Jésus Hernandez, chase his father's killer, a skilled assassin, from world to world, seeking vengeance. The defenders are clever, and merciless, killing invaders by the thousands, but the greater Intergalactic Council has vast resources, and man-power, and it looks as though finally the city will be lost, but then Doctors Hugo Galvez and Murphy show up and employ a daring gambit.
