Overview

This book aims to enlighten readers about kidney disease in children, the difficulties that children and families go through, and the strategies they use to cope with the disease. All these changes have repercussions on the quality of life of these children and their caregivers. Depending on the type of change and the way in which they deal with the obstacles that arise throughout their lives, their quality of life takes on different meanings. The perspective of the children and their caregivers (usually their parents) is presented, and clinical and non-clinical approach strategies are suggested for health professionals who frequently deal with these children and families, namely nurses. Finally, a more recreational and educational aspect is discussed, which is gaining more and more followers: summer camps for children with kidney disease. Summer camps for children with kidney disease produce benefits for children at various levels, which is why they have been given great prominence in this work.
