Overview

The WHO has developed a mental health policy and service guidance package to help implement the policy recommendations of the World Health Report 2001: ""Mental Health: New Understanding, New Hope"". The package consists of a series of inter-related and user-friendly modules designed to address the wide variety of needs and priorities in policy development and service planning. Each module addresses a core aspect of mental health. Quality determines whether services increase the likelihood of achieving desired mental health outcomes and whether they meet current requirements of evidence-based practice. Quality is important in all mental health systems because good quality ensures that people with mental disorders receive the care they require and that their symptoms and quality of life improve. This module sets out practical steps for the improvement of the quality of mental health care.
