Provoking Prosperity

Overview

To provoke prosperity and purge poverty in developing countries as the only effective way to solve the illegal migration crisis, great change is required. Current practices must be radically revised, and existing deficiencies eliminated. This means that mindsets must be refocused, bureaucracies reduced, processes made more agile, multiple barriers removed, and proper supportive policies implanted so that massive investment can be attracted that creates better jobs and pays higher salaries in a sustainable way. All aspects must be managed with excellence. This includes managing the investment climate, the economic environment, the attraction of investment, the businesses, the supply chains, the processes, infrastructure, judicial certainty, the psychology of the citizens and the education of the work force. The crucial management factor tends to be ignored or disdained by those engaged in economic development, which is why it plays a central role in this book. Good managers do greater good than just about anyone else. After all, they must produce better products and services at cheaper prices to survive. An excellent manager's responsibility is to ethically maximize the outputs of each individual and reward them accordingly. Inspired, creative productive people supported by internationally competitive capital investment are the motor of development. When they are managed correctly, that motor will run smoothly and powerfully. Prosperity will be provoked, poverty purged and accelerated development achieved to the utmost.

Reviews

""Provoking Prosperity"" is unique in providing practical solutions to poverty - a life-long concern for me. What particularly jumped out at me and impressed me is its unparalleled insight into legal, conceptual and other barriers of current practice in the development field that must be overcome. Its large-company strategy to provide more decent jobs is convincing. Its focus on the crucial management role in all aspects of the very complex development field is unequaled. Its coverage of productivity, market growth and exchange rates, and its presentation of financial options and what investors seek are outstanding. I know, because many of these themes were at the heart of my lengthy career as Senior Vice-President of a leading global financial services firm, and my earlier experience in development activities when I spent 5 years in the third world. My hope is that its wise recommendations are implemented, because the quality of life of vast multitudes is at stake. -- Jerry Estruth is a retired as a Senior Vice President and financial planner from a major Wall Street brokerage firm after 44 years. He had IOOs of clients and a capital responsibility exceeding $500,000,000. He never gave up on figuring out what finance and economics could do for those less fortunate. He always helped individuals become wealthy. (or prosperous).
