Providence Supernatural Crimes Unit

Overview

Officer Mary Riley thought she knew what it meant to be a cop-until the night she chased a scream into a blood-soaked house and came face-to-face with something that shouldn't exist. In the shadows of Providence, she discovers a secret police division tasked with cases no one else will touch: possessions, vanishings, creatures from beyond, and crimes that defy reason. Partnered with the emotionally guarded Detective Shippe and the enigmatic Rashid, Riley must adapt fast or end up like the victims she's sworn to protect. But some truths are more dangerous than lies. The deeper she digs, the more Riley realizes the greatest threat isn't what stalks the dark-it's the secrets her own department is desperate to keep buried. Fast-paced, chilling, and atmospheric, Providence: Supernatural Crimes Unit blends the grit of police procedural with supernatural horror-perfect for fans of The X-Files, True Detective, and Supernatural.

Author Information

Chad Anctil is a best-selling author of horror and urban fantasy, known for weaving terrifying tales that blur the line between the supernatural and the everyday. Born and raised in Rhode Island-the birthplace of H.P. Lovecraft-he discovered his love for reading and horror at an early age, perhaps too early, though that's how Generation X often did things.A lifelong creative, Chad began writing and DJing in his teens before serving as an electronics engineer aboard fast-attack submarines in the Navy during the 1990s. His travels took him from New England to California, Hawaii, and beyond, where he immersed himself in strange and vibrant subcultures: neon-soaked electronic dance parties in abandoned warehouses, vampire poetry in graveyards, and underground robot battles under freeway overpasses. These surreal experiences fueled his imagination and inspired the dark, layered worlds that now drive his fiction. After his military service, Chad returned to New England, where he lives in East Providence, Rhode Island, with his wife and son. By night, he writes his unsettling stories; by day, he is a nationally recognized fire performer, flow arts instructor, and DJ, continuing to channel creativity across many forms.
