Providence: A Narrative of Illness and Recovery

Overview

Unforeseen events can happen in life, sometimes leading to circumstances of great impact. It is all part of the human cycle, incidents that take our breath away, leaving us unsettled, or perplexed, or staggering in disbelief and shock. These are notable occasions, etched forever within our core experiences and memories. They are also episodes that define who we are, that test our fortitude, faith and perseverance. At these moments we are all vulnerable, laid bare, elemental beings grasping for hope. This book is about such an event, the surprising onset of leukemia in 1971 at the age of seventeen.
