The Bureau of Social Hygiene was formed in New York in 1910 to study the white slave traffic and sponsored this book. Abraham Flexner describes completely prostitution in Europe and offers an overview of the methods used to control the traffic. Included are appendices comparing contemporary regulations in Paris, Berlin, Hamburg, Vienna, and Denmark.
