DAVIS is a Professor of Sociology at Portland State University, Oregon. She is the author or co-author of Social Control of Deviance: A Critical Perspective (1990), From Crime to Choice: The Transformation of Abortion in America (Greenwood, 1985), Social Control: The Production of Deviance in the Modern State (1983), and Sociological Constructions of Deviance: Perspectives and Issues in the Field (1980) among others. She specializes in deviance and social control and is associate editor of two international journals.
