Overview

During the transition period, domestic agricultural producers face a double risk-from natural conditions and market conditions-and therefore need double support, both at the national and international levels. At the national level, it is necessary to eliminate the imbalance between sectors. Our agriculture suffers billions in losses every year due to price disparities. At the international level, it is necessary to attract investment in the agro-industrial complex and enable Kazakhstan to take its rightful place in the international division of labor in the global food market. The crisis in agriculture has caused a chain reaction in other sectors of the economy. It is well known that one agricultural worker provides up to six jobs in other sectors. Naturally, the decline in the agricultural sector has led to a complete shutdown of mineral fertilizer plants and agricultural machinery enterprises, as well as stagnation in the textile, garment, and processing industries. All this indicates that agriculture should become a sector of the entire domestic economy. A new course in agricultural policy is needed.
