Many of the methods, procedures and diagnostic practices in this book were pioneered during infancy of the facility assessment industry in the 1980s via hands-on field application. Mr. McClain received a Bachelor of Architecture from California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo, is a licensed architect in the State of California, and has worked with numerous building evaluation and due diligence consulting firms through the years. In addition, he has worked as Executive Director of a non-profit housing corporation and helped found and manage a business incubator for low-income artisans on Skid Row in Los Angeles.
