Carol Shumate has taken the trouble to understand the additions and extensions I have made to type theory, which foreground Jung's contribution in discriminating eight separate function-attitudes through which personal self-experience can evince a truly psychological awareness. She has also found her own way to apply these ideas to the expansion of consciousness in midlife, the assimilation of charismatic leadership, and the effort to make relationships between individual citizens of the psyche comprehensible.
