Table of ContentsReviewsAuthor InformationRory Burke was educated at Wicklow School (Ireland) and Oswestry Grammar School (UK). He has an MSc in Project Management (Henley Management College/Brunel University) and degrees in Naval Architecture (Solent University, Southampton) and Computer Aided Engineering (Coventry University), and is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society (FRGS). As a naval architect, Rory has worked on a range of marine and offshore projects in Britain, South Africa and the Middle East. These include ship design (military and commercial), model testing as a scientific officer (submarines, frigates and offshore structures), shipbuilding (sidewall hovercrafts, tugs and offshore supply vessels), and ship repair as a superintendent (trawlers, oil tankers and drilling rigs). As a lecturer, Rory has set up a number of educational and professional Project Management programmes for universities and in-house courses. Rory is a visiting lecturer to universities and professional societies in Britain, America, Canada, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand. As an author and publisher, Rory has written a number of educational books on Project Management, Leadership and Entrepreneurship. Two of the titles have been published separately by John Wiley and Sons, together with foreign right translations into German, Greek and Chinese. Rory has a Nicholson 35 (yacht) and with Sandra, his wife, sailed from the UK to New Zealand via the Caribbean and the Panama Canal, following in the foot steps of Christopher Columbus and Captain James Cook. This cruising adventure enabled Sandra and Rory to write three bluewater cruising books based on their experiences and lifestyle. As a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society (RGS), Rory is currently researching how smart drones, controlled by artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms, can be used to enhance anti-poaching measures to save endangered species. Rory is a frequent visitor to the African game parks and has a keen interest in the conservation of elephants and rhinos - an environment in much need of project management techniques.
