Project Management

Overview

The Briefcase Series was re-launched by McGraw-Hill in the Fall of 1998. The series had been significantly improved with a brand new design and package. There are now 12 titles in this series in print. It has done well both in the U.S. market and internationally. Rights have also been sold for seven languages, Chinese (both forms), Dutch, German, Korean, Spanish, and Portuguese. Project management books continue to sell well as every manager is also managing not only people but also projects. This book will review the steps in organizing and managing projects. This includes planning, coordination of personnel, procurement of goods and services, timing, use of project management tools, such as Gantt Charts and PERT diagrams, and project management software programs. At just over 200 pages, it will fit between the longer and more technical books on this subject and the shorter, more superficial titles listed below. Briefcase Books are rich in practical techniques and examples. They help readers understand why, but they really focus on how, with specific steps for successfully gaining skills and completing tasks and projects. * How to build a realistic schedule * How to manage cost throughout a project * How to build stronger project teams * How to measure both success and failure The series will also continue its user-friendly, sidebar-rich format, which is designed to be easily read and digested for managers at all levels of the organizational hierarchy. Books in the series feature short, informally written chapters, bulleted lists, self-examinations, and seven types of sidebars, and chapter-ending checklists of important points.
