In addition, Fitton coordinates college success and orientation courses offered each semester. Fitton is the author of On Campus - An Interactive Guide to College (Prentice Hall 2009), and co-authored New Beginning - Writing with Fluency (Houghton Mifflin 2001) and From Narrative Onward - Writing with a Focus (Houghton Mifflin 2001). Recipient of the Dr. Wesley T. Hanson Award for Teaching Excellence (2001), Fitton began her career in education teaching English at Sheepshead Bay High School in Brooklyn, New York in 1969.
