Overview

This book focuses on advances in economics research. Chapter 1 estimates a panel FDI investment function that seeks to identify some of the major economic and institutional determinants of net FDI flows to nine major Latin American countries during the 1980-2017 period. Chapter 2 discusses the establishment of the European Monetary Union (EMU). Chapter 3 explores the benefits and challenges of employing carbon markets and behavioural economics intervention approaches to mitigating the effects of climate change in the African region. Chapter 5 shows the importance of evolutionary-genetic methodology for the study of economic science and its progress. Chapter 6 seeks to reveal if there exist potential free riders within EU countries regarding fulfilling the Paris Agreement of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). Finally, Chapter 7 discusses the all-encompassing impact of Artificial Intelligence on different segments and outlines its ability to effectively stimulate economic growth, increase productivity levels and generate new streams of employment.
