No presente estudo, Sporotrichum thermophile ATCC 42464 foi utilizado para a produção de serina protease utilizando fermentação em substrato sólido (SSF). O farelo de trigo (12,5 g) foi utilizado como fonte de carbono. Foram optimizadas as condições culturais, tais como o teor de humidade (MSS-12,5 ml), o pH (5) e o tempo de incubação (48 h). A atividade enzimática diminuiu na presença de inibidores (ureia, SDS) e quelantes (EDTA), enquanto a presença de iões metálicos, especialmente Mg2+, provocou um aumento da atividade da serina protease. A atividade enzimática máxima de 18,84 U/g foi observada nas condições optimizadas.
